Privacy Policy
Orbit is built on a simple principle: your job search is your business. This policy explains exactly what data Orbit handles, where it lives, and what — if anything — leaves your device. It is deliberately short, because there is not much to disclose.
1. What Orbit stores, and where
Everything you enter into the Orbit tracker — companies, roles, stages, dates, salary ranges, contacts, notes, and tasks — is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. Orbit has no user accounts, no login, and no backend database. We cannot see, access, retrieve, sell, or share your application data, because it is never transmitted to us in the first place.
The same applies to the Orbit Autofill Chrome extension: the profile you save (name, contact details, links, and standard application answers) is stored using Chrome's local extension storage on your device only. Nothing you type into the extension is uploaded to any server.
2. What leaves your device
Two things, both standard for websites:
- Google Analytics. The joborbit.online website (not your tracker data) uses Google Analytics 4 to measure anonymous, aggregate traffic — page views, approximate region, device type. This helps us understand which guides are useful. Google's use of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising. Pages on this site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn about other vendors' opt-outs at aboutads.info. The tracker page itself never mixes your pipeline data into advertising in any way — ads have no access to local storage contents.
3. Cookies
Orbit itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics and, where shown, advertising partners set their own cookies as described above. Your tracker data uses local storage, which is not a cookie and is never attached to any network request.
4. The Orbit Autofill extension in detail
- The extension reads the content of a job application page only when you click Autofill, in order to find form fields and fill them from your saved profile.
- It can read a page's public metadata (title, structured data) to detect the company and role when you log an application.
- It requests the minimum Chrome permissions needed: storage (save your profile locally), activeTab and scripting (fill forms on the tab you're viewing, only when you act).
- It sends data to exactly one place, only when you choose "Send to Orbit": your own browser tab at joborbit.online, via a link — no server is involved in the transfer.
- The extension contains no analytics, no trackers, and no remote code.
5. Data retention and deletion
Your data persists in your browser until you delete it. You can remove everything at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser settings, or by removing individual applications inside the tracker. Uninstalling the extension deletes its stored profile. Because we hold no copy, deletion on your device is total — there is nothing for us to erase on a server.
We recommend using the built-in Backup (JSON) export regularly: local storage is per-browser and per-device, so clearing browser data or switching machines will otherwise remove your pipeline.
6. Children
Orbit is a general-audience career tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children — because the product collects no personal information at all.
7. Changes to this policy
If Orbit's data practices ever change — for example, if an optional sync feature with accounts is introduced — this page will be updated before the change ships, with a new effective date at the top.
